Gizelo Araújo Mendonça is a Medical Doctor and Field Epidemiologist. Graduated from the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (ELAM) in 2020 and trained in Field Epidemiology at an Intermediate level by the Programa de Treinamento em Epidemiologia de Campo (FETP) of the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Pública da Guiné-Bissau (INASA). He is currently an IGHD associate coordinating the project “Strengthening Community Resilience and Health Systems in Guiné-Bissau”, working in the regions of Bissau and Biombo. He also works as a Mentor and Field Epidemiologist at INASA’s FETP and heads up the production of newsletters. He worked as a Physician at the Hospital Nacional Simão Mendes, working in emergency, surgery and gynaecology-obstetrics. He has experience in community surveillance, data management, emergency response and training professionals. He has published articles on vaccination coverage and health systems and participated in international conferences (ORCID ID: 0009-0004-1206-579X). He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, English and French, and is trained in statistical tools and the One Health approach.
