Kwame Hermenegildo Melé holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) and a Master's degree in Evidence and Decision in Health, with a specialization in Clinical Research, from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. He also holds a postgraduate qualification in Health Data Science from the Polytechnic University of Coimbra and has completed several continuing professional development courses (non-degree training programs). In addition, he has participated in several research studies conducted by the Bandim Health Project (Guinea-Bissau), focusing on malaria and tuberculosis. More recently, he was awarded a doctoral scholarship under the Doctoral Programme in Medicine at the University of Minho School of Medicine for the 2026–2027 academic year. The scholarship will be funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
